Getting Started
No prior knowledge is needed. Our Beginner Igbo Courses are designed for absolute beginners of all ages. We have classes for Children, Classes For Teenagers and Classes for Adults.
Simply click the Book Classes tab at the top of our website. This takes you to the Booking Page with our live course timetable. Click on any course for more details. For even more info, press the i logo. If you’re happy with your selection, just hit Book Now, fill in your details, and proceed to payment. You’re all set in under 2 minutes!
We offer:
Beginner Level Igbo Classes for Children (ages 5–12), Teenagers, and Adults.
Intermediate Level Igbo Classes for Children, Teenagers, and Adults.
All courses are tailored to age group and skill level.
Weekday Classes: £3.85/hour
Saturday Classes: £4.35/hour
Private One-on-One Tutoring: £10/hour
Class Start Times (UK Time):
Children: 5:00 PM
Teenagers: 6:30 PM
Adults: 8:00 PM
All courses are live Zoom classes. You will also receive an Audiobook after each lesson so that you can get plenty of practice in between lessons. Additional audiobooks are also available to you at our LIBC Igbo Audiobook Store.
All classes are live and interactive. We also offer Audiobooks/PDFs for self-study and pronunciation practice and extra audiobooks which can be bought through our Audiobook Store.
8. How do I know my Level?
Beginner Level: Little or no Igbo knowledge; unable to speak the language.
Intermediate Level: Understands spoken Igbo but struggles to speak it (receptively bilingual).
You’ll cover:
Igbo greetings (Ekelendi Igbo)
The Igbo alphabet (Mkpuru Edemede Igbo)
Self-introductions (Nkowaonwe)
Numbers (Onuogugu Igbo)
Everyday vocabulary and basic conversations (Ikparitauka)
Vowels, consonants (Mgbochiume na ụdaume)
The Igbo Tonal System (Udaolu)
Igbo grammar, Sentence structures and so much more (Too many to list here).
Each course includes:

There’s no set time limit. Learn at your own pace! Attend for as long or as short as you like. Our goal is consistent and noticeable progress toward fluency.
We recommend:
Ideally: 2 hours/week of class time. At a minimum: 1 hour/week of class time
1–2 additional hours/week for at-home practice. Audiobook practice is extremely important
Yes, with consistent attendance and practice. Igbo is a tonal language, but with time and dedication, fluency is definitely achievable.
Yes! Upon achieving Proficiency, you will receive a Digital Certificate of Proficiency.
15. What Technology do I need?
You’ll need:
** A desktop or Laptop or Tablet or Smartphone
** Internet access
** A webcam and a microphone (inbuilt or external)
We use Zoom. Booking confirmations and reminders (with Zoom links and pass-codes) are automatically emailed to you after you make your booking.
** 12+ hours’ Notice: Your booking carries over to the next week for rescheduling
** Less than 12 hours Notice: We’ll try to reschedule, but it’s not guaranteed

20. What age groups do you teach?
We offer Igbo classes for:
Children (5–12 years)
Teenagers
Adults
Most classes have 4–8 learners, ensuring personalized attention. Maximum capacity is 20 (rarely reached).
Yes! One-on-one Igbo tutoring is available at £10/hour. Book via our website or contact us via our Contact Us Page
Yes! We offer Discount Bundles for Weekday Lessons and Saturday Lessons:
10 lessons = 10% off
15 lessons = 12% off
20 lessons = 15% off

25. Can I retake a course for extra practice?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to repeat any Level until you’re confident.
Yes. After completing the Beginner Level, you can continue to our Intermediate Level Igbo Course.
Yes. We offer a short verbal assessment to determine the right Level for you.
Yes—but we call them Weekly Challenges! These help you practice, revise, and build vocabulary.
Yes! Our Online Igbo Classes are open to learners worldwide. You can learn Igbo Online with us via Zoom from any where in the world.
